I think perhaps you're taking this general rule too far. Sometimes symmetry can be a very powerful tool in the hands of a good player (note: I am not including myself in this category), and some epic replays are very symmetrical.
speaking in terms of raw force, there are kinds of raw force that can best be achieved with the use of symmetry (e.g., Uketossing). just my slighlty off-topic 2cents

Defend the Decap - Uke tries to kick my head off! (obviously moving Uke at start, but not once I start moving, just to be clear).
Fake Out grab arm, reverse direction, contract knee/hip, chop-head.
