Upon Opening Blender, you will see a few things, first a message, just click away from it. You will also see a cube, camera, and Lamp.
Delete the cube by pressing the "Delete" or the "x" key and selecting delete on the menu that pops up. Don't worry about the camera or lamp for now.
Press and hold middle mouse button, you will rotate the camera.
Press and hold shift+Middle mouse button = Pan the camera.
Scroll the Scroll wheel = Zoom in and out.
Press the "1" key on the
NUMPAD = View from the Y axis.
Press the "3" key on the
NUMPAD = View from the X axis.
Press the "7" key on the
NUMPAD = view from the Z axis.
Press the "5" key on the
NUMPAD = Toggle between orthogonal and user perspective views.
Right Click an object = Select it.
Press the "a" key = Deselect all objects.
Press the "s" key = Scale an object. (If you press "z" , "x" or "y" during the process, you will lock movement to that axis)
Press the "g" key = move an object.(If you press "z" , "x" or "y" during the process, you will lock movement to that axis)
The little red and white circle is the origin. This is where your objects will spawn. If you left click, you move the origin. Should, at any time, you want it to return to the center press Shift+C
There are many more controls, but these are basic ones + camera movement, to get you started.
