Look on the DarkDemon forums for a smoke tutorial, it was basically the same thing.

No need. I just used the default stick, another plain stick guy, just thicker, the grenade was just a circle with a line, the explosion was a random blob, and I drew the stick at the end from scratch.

I'm a Pivot veteran myself. Well, maybe not a veteran; I've used it for years but I've always been truly awful at it.
