IMO, movie.lua is kinda shit, screenieing one frame at a time worked better for me xD

Hey guys, if you don't want to use movie.lua then get FRAPS.
It can be found here....http://www.fraps.com

It specialy made to make movies from your games. And you don't even have to select the area you want to record in, cos it automaticlly records the game when you press RECORD. The 1 you download from the website is a demo version, and you have to buy the FULL version, but you can still use it to make movies....Sorry for long description.

Fraps makes my computer lag like hell, so is there a way to make it run fast, but at the same time not make the video look like crap?

It sounds like you do not have the encoding codecs. Search google for ''codec pack'' and get it. Just a guess, however.
