I didn't really like the result either, but it looks OK for now. It's suposed to look like magma coming out from the nose/ears. I still need to work on realism, as in details, I guess. Thanks.

its not your shading/detailing.
its your use of colour, dont use happy red if you want to make something evil. darker colours, more black, more green, more brown.

The red looks pink. The head scares me, but it's cool.
The shading is nice and I guess the only thing is to turn down that brightness.
Some things are a lil too bright for an 'evil' looking head.
