The only reason i don't use Linux is gaming. Can't stand waiting for patches.

Problem solved. It was Nvidia's drivers. Just tried out the newest beta driver and it is much smoother now. there is still the odd stutter but it's miles better. Thanks Hamps ;)

i have a bigger problem; it completely jams my computer, repeating over and over a half a second of sound. i'll try compability drive next.

i auto-searched updates for all programs associated with the graphics driver, so updates won't help. what to do?
