GIMP is a very good graphics program once you get used to it. However, I'd go for 2.4, because the 2.6 interface is clumsy and... Terrible.

If you wanna make textures then for the love of god, dont make them in 128x128. It makes it all crappy quality. Use 512x512

i use 256x256. You don't lose anything in resizing. barely.

i hate 2.6! ugh...

I use 400x400 and then scale to 128x128.

And oh- That makes two of us. 2.6 is almost photoshop. That means terrible. I'm downloading 2.4 again now. Phew...
