mencoder. Yes, I am hardcore.

Want effects? Edit the frames by hand, and then use mencoder to re-encode the frames, with whatever settings you want (I can guarantee it has more options for encoding than what you use)

I use premier Pro 7. When after effexts cs4 comes out, I will use that too.
