-never map vertical lines dead straight, it just looks like an oversight in the mapping.
the sphere pinches them towards the bottom and top.
the better option would be to either exaggerate it by intentionally narrowing it towards the bottom, or counter it by flaring it out (check the lines on the default template and move along with those)

-with the neck joint, those bottom 3 plates would not be visable on the texture.
-also wouldnt have made the gradient on the background that severe.

ideas:
-with the line of the eyes, mirroring that into the existing plates would create a fairly interesting line. repeating those plates, mapping it to the template and finishing it with a ridge or solid plate over the top of the head
