As a guy with a complete QOTSA collection, and a lot of other stoner music, I can safely same that bastant rock like this is...just plain awesome. There's no better word for it.

For the record, Mastodon is in some circuits called "stoner metal". I'm not quite sure how they manage to identify it like this. Just saying :P

That would probably be because of the themes.
I'm tempted to put DreamTheatre in stoner metal too.

Stoner Rock and Stoner Metal are just different variations on the same theme.

I think you should check out The Melvins.
They're really good grungy/"stoner rock" etc.

Tools main influence. It's more noticable in their earlier songs.
Later on Tool become a little more experimental and their sound changed, so they wouldn't fit.
