2011 World Championships

(initiate drumroll)
Alright men, let's get to it! It's the moment you've all been waiting for! You've trained for this moment, you've fought, sweat, and bled for this moment, and now, it's time to take it! Nothing you have ever experienced will prepare you for the absolute carnage you are about to witness! Show no mercy, take no prisoner, fight 'til your last breath, or don't bother trying! Fear? That's your opponent's problem. You will be heartless, you will be ruthless, but most importantly of all, you will be unstoppable!

Without further ado, it's time to begin the 2011 World Championships!

Now, let's get down to business. You will have until August 6th to sign up for this event. Each competitor must post in this thread with their GMT. After the week has passed, the GMs will organize the players into competition brackets (depends on how many people enter) where the participants will face off in Single Elimination combat.

After registration is finished, the players will be put in slots according to their specified GMT in the Competitions Tab. Mods for each round shall be decided once registration finishes. You must be in contact with your opponent via PM, IRC, Skype, whatever means necessary to finish your match before the deadline.

Look at the Penalties section for missing a match.

Deadlines (This schedule is subject to change if more people register):

Aug. 6 - End of registration
Aug. 7 - 9: Round 1
Aug. 10 - 12: Round 2
Aug. 13 - 15: Round 3
Aug. 16 - 18: Round 4
Aug. 19 - 21: Round 5
Aug. 22 - 24: Round 6
Aug. 24 - 26: Round 7
Aug. 28 - 30: Round 8 (as well as the Third Place match)

If a pair is unable to finish the match after the deadline, both players will be disqualified.

For the Champion:
2011 World Championships Trophy Item
ToriPrime + VIP subscription for 1 year
100tc Booster for 1 month
One Full No-Qi Set of your choosing
The World Champion Achievement

For the Runner-Up:

Now you know what you must do, but you must ask yourself: Are you man enough to do it?
Are you ready to face the gruesome challenge that lies before you?
From here on out, it's all up to you.

Make sure you keep checking this thread for updates.

You have 5 days to get in shape. Good luck.

Do I need a GM to supervise?

No you do not.

What mod should I play?

If you do NOT have a bye, you must play judofrac. If you DO have a bye, you must play kickbox. Once you get past the second round, you must play aikido. Further mods will be announced as the tourney moves along.

What time should I play?

You can play whenever you want AS LONG AS IT IS BEFORE THE DEADLINE. Once the deadline is passed, measures will be taken in accordance with the rules.

How Do I let someone know that a duel is finished?

The WINNER must pm the results to Huck.

I can honestly say i didn't know there would be an ip check coming, didn't think that far ahead, so i guess you can say that was my fault. I understand that you guys dont want people using 2 accounts for this, that's why you would not let us into this tournament, but if there is any way we could get in, that would be greatly appreciated.

So what your telling me Pulse, is that we can't get in? That's fine, but a simple yes would have worked. Maybe the GM's could have done a better job and told people they would be checking IP's?

As it's done for a official tourney the ips are checked for a huge event like this as well.

The matter is that we can't verify the authenticity of your story, there's no way to do it, and letting you both into
the competition would be unfair for the others if , as in a proof by contradiction, you were a single person using two alts.

Ignoratia non excusat. Multiaccounting is forbidden everywhere in official events.

Ask him for a time he can play with you and tell him times you could play with him. If you got a time when you both can play you confirm it, and meet at that time.
If he doesn't answer you or if one of you has no time at all, the one who doesn't have time will get disqualified.

Bye Player means that you do not have an opponent in that round and get to the next round automatically.
That happened here because the tournament could end up with three people in the final round etc. so the GMs had to find a number that can get divided by 2 enough times so there would be two people in the finals, 4 people in the semi finals, 8 people in the round before etc.
As an example. There are 6 people.
A vs B, A wins
C vs D, C wins
E vs F, F wins
in the next round there would be someone with an auto win anyways, so you can just say E and F both win the first round so there would be four players remaining.
This is indeed a bit unfair to those who have to fight in the first round, but that's the only way it works.

For those who can't find their names:
Use CTRL + F.

Don't play with me.
Checking your old post it's clearly visible that you have the same ip than Corster.
If you change pc and check your previous posts' ips they are the same as before, plus we have the logs of all the ips of the participants including you and Corster.

Contact a GM and try to contact your opponent with his help. If he stays afk for the whole two days you'll be advanced.

so if we signed up on the same computer, and then i left his house and went home, it still doesn't matter? it's just what we signed up with?

is there really nothing we can do? because i was really excited about this tournament...

Prove it. Give us proof that it went in this way.

Don't want to seem rude but there are things that can't be verified on the internet. Prevention is the best cure after all.

Sorry for all these clichès.
