How do I switch off auto update?

TB downloads 3MB of data everytime I logg on.

I dont think you can its there to update the version and items people have

It will be possible in the next release.
In the meanwhile, a temporary solution would be to disconnect from the internet before you start Toribash, and then re-connect.

However, when you disable auto update, you won't see the players new textures, and won't get updates and fixes for Toribash.

Unlike most people I do not worry too much about textures. I enjoy the game more.

I tried it before, did not work for me.

Disconnecting from the internet when starting Toribash should work.
Maybe you need to let it run for a bit before connecting to the internet again.
The autoupdate gives up after a bit when the internet is down.

You can look at the file autoupdate.log once in a while to know exactly when it 'gave up' .

I shouldn't take too long.

block toribash.exe from the internet using a firewall. (unless u want to play multiplayer >.>)

I want to play multiplayer! When I used an old version (2.4) I only used about 2Mb an hour.
