Also, why half grey and half white?

It felt right to me, I wanted to make something completely different from what people are making nowadays with a 1 color skin texture.
And the Light red and Dark red goes well together to me. The head looks boss in-game

hmm nice head 7/10 but normaly when you have heads with a side to different color it normally has a ugly line on the head i wonder how that will turn out

Im not actually feeling much special-ness from this head. Besides the helmet shading everything is kind of used commonly. Plus is that hair or a part of the helmet?
