I also found when doing Wushu it some times helps to relax some parts, or even relax your whole Tori and then just contract the relevant joints you need to recover.

This is because the loose joints will effectively shrink your center of mass and allow you to spin faster/launch further in some cases, like if your leg is sticking out and stiff you have to spin all that weight but if you relax it, it will collapse and make the movement more easy and smooth.
