How do you get a new head? i got hed avatar and ween i activaded it nothing happend.....

Yep, that expensive.

The head avatar only shows your current head texture below your name, nothing more.

Also head avatars dont show up in the 3.8 betas, so no need to panic, it will be shown later, when the final release gets out.
