Did you upload using the GUI item or did you copy and paste to the texture file in the data folder?

The guy you played with has this GUI uploaded.
When you play with someone, as their textures, their GUI gets downloaded too and its applicated.

This is since 3.8 btw, thats why you dont know.

Dont worry, when you stop playing with him, your normal GUI will come back.
