Boy bludgeons father over a video game
http://www.destructoid.com/boy-banne...h-171193.phtml

After his dad confiscated his keyboard in an attempt to stop his constant playing, the 14 year-old waited until his father fell asleep and hammered him to death. After his terrified mother gave him the keyboard back, he calmly went back to the game.

....Sick idiots like this is the reason why we have people like Jack Thompson.
The kid should be put down. As for games....i don't know. Maybe a higher minimum age.

That basically sums it up.

Childrens youth being sucked up by stupid video games, messing up Reality and Illusion.
I've heard a few things like this, where a kid over does a video game.
I think the most surprising part was, after he killed his father, he just went back to playing his stupid little video game. Not even noticing what he did could have been wrong in so many ways.
it wouldnt bother me too much if i lost my laptop. i dont have any games that are exciting enough to play for a week straight, not even tb (the forums are pretty addicting though) let alone get that pissed off when they're taken away. what kind of sick 14 yo would do this? just wrong :s

Some games can be as psychologically addictive as any chemical, and all are relatively easily accessible to any kid.

Age requirements should restrict young children to play those kinda of games.
That kid's sick.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I was psychologically addicted to CoD4. Like, I would literally have withdrawals. Playing it again was completely out of my control, so I ditched the habit.

Just Say No to video games.
=o
Thanks.

Isn't Modern Warfare 2 and Assassin's Creed 1 and 2 rated M for mature? That means you'd have to be over 17 years old to play it. Now, luckily for me, I don't have to worry about that, but what about everyone else? I know that there are people in this community who play those games even though they are underage. Do you think that age requirements are enough? I don't. Underage kids will play those games the same way underage kids drink, smoke, and do other crap. We can't change that.

What we can change is the way we educate our young. Unfortunately, the video game companies don't really care about that stuff, but if our generation builds a strong foundation with values, our kids and their kids will be able to recognize what's truly important.

Sure the youngsters can still play video games; I'm not saying that VIDEO GAMES ARE BAAAAD. Rather, as long as the user has complete control over his faculties, we should be fine.

Many people would say that the games violence would influence the childs actions, i disagree with that. I beleive the kid may have been mentally unstable from the beginning, but the game may have given him more ideas. Some parents are painfully strict when it comes to playing games over their child's age level. I don't think thats really a valid reason for being strict. Firstly, the kid wont become a vicious pyscho murderer by playing Grand Theft Auto, and Secondly, they will have to learn about the treacheries and horrors that come with the richness of human life at somepoint in their childhood, why not early so they can be more prepared for it?
Ecophilosophical communism... whatever the hell that is... or Psychosolcialism...
i dont think that MW2 is what this kid was playing. if he shot him with a rocket launcher or a machine gun or somethign then maybe but he didnt. it was probably something such as runescape or assasins creed. but i may be wrong.
