I think that moving the mouth part up would be a bit better, maybe so that it covers both mouth and nose.
And I know there's a lot of detail in the bottom, but the top part is just too much of a blank area.

Yeah, some things just look better flat than on a sphere.
Incorrect mapping is usually the problem, but in this case, it seems well-mapped.
So I'm not sure as to what it could be.
