I am currently in a hotel but when I open the multiplayer server list on Toribash nothing shows up, I also tried to /jo a server and it said not connected so I suspect that there are either issues with the ports or a firewall.

With that said, is there any way to work my way round this?

Try turning off firewall. If server list doesn't show up, the problem is not game related. Also, As you mentioned that you are in a hotel, I guess changing location can affect internet connection. What type of connection do you have?

Its a wireless connection, I don't really know how else to describe it.
As far as i know, I don't have any firewalls installed on my computer so the issue may be the hotels firewalls and filters, but I can still connect to the forums...

I think hotel's filters or firewall does not let programs to use internet connection but you can surf internet normally.
Nevermind, it's a wild guess.

Using a software which allows you to pass filters etc can solve this problem.
