If you want realistic hair:

Mapping seems decent so far, ears will be correctly placed.
The hair will end up looking like a hat though, after the ears, make the hair go down to the bottom of the canvas.

If you're going for a cartoon look, I suggest learning the pentool. Hell, I suggest using the pentool anyways. It's my favorite.

I think you need to make it way more realistic.

Right now I think it looks bad.
