Advice?
Learn how to draw, then practice, and practice more. The more you do it, the better you'll get.
Poke the tutorials board for the basics on making them, just be aware that if you don't spend the time learning how to make proper art they'll not look too great. Then again, there's a lot to be said for simple stuff. Even a MS paint set will make you look different to the others.
