I used to play this a couple of years back, but got a little bit put off by the seemingly rising amount of "pay for more X" things that were getting added, and not enough you could do for free - actually playing the game being one of them.
Also there was horrible latency for me because they didn't have servers near me.

Have any of these things changed recently and should I try it once more?

Yeah Jelly it has changed, stopped playing it a few months ago due to the fact I had no one to dungeon with. But I have lots of self earned stuff. A decently high tear, the skelly armour, the upgraded version. Can't quite remember as I haven't played since forever.

XD There were few players that opted for purchasing items to win.
So it's basically a pay to advance faster, everything someone can get you can get too without paying, which in my opinion, paying just defeats the purpose of the game. As once you hit late game content it's more about perfecting your gear and the occasional PvP game and that's it.

Lemme know what you think of the new system Jelly, I'll happily give you some of my old gear, it's not very good but it saves you a lot of beginning frustration, just some crappy stuff nothing that you'd consider 'great' xP
