Yes, it's my favorite medium! I sometimes sketch with charcoal but always use pencil for the finished product.

You will get much better from it.

Nice ones. Although pretty much all of those look unfinished, and about the shading, don't smudge it with your finger ever again. It makes the drawing all messy and stuff. Try to learn to shade smoothly without all the fuss with your finger. Next time remember to add some darker tones, and lighter tones. Because on the second drawing the hair is the same shade as pretty much everything which gives no depth whatsoever.
