That's only a month. I'm sure it all depends on the severity of the situation. He could have also appealed his ban to get a reduced sentence.

It also isn't your business to snoop around looking for the reason to a moderator's decision (unless it's your own infraction/ban), mind you. A ban length is set upon the severity of the offense.
