Jam0864's Pivot Tutorial (updated x2)
Pivot Tutorial

This tutorial will teach you how to do some vital movements, effects, how to save a gif correctly and proper technique.
I find it's easier to examine the frames and learn from that, so here are all the .piv files.

http://www.pivothost.org/upload/v2/J..._files7q3d.zip

If you want some decent sticks, I've uploaded some here
http://www.pivothost.org/upload/v2/J...iguresze4l.zip

First off, how to save a gif correctly.
Frame delay=6 (trust me, it's the fastest you can get, 1 is slower than 6.
Untick merge
keep crop and palette ticked
enter 2 in the resize box

that's how to optimize your gif to it's best when made in pivot.

Technique

Easing
First look at a non-eased animation.

Now look at an eased animation

See the difference? Basically easing is accelerating then decelerating, not just stopping and starting. Not only do you do this when moving along the screen, you also do it when moving an arm, leg or any other body part. Here is the .piv files http://www.pivothost.org/upload/v2/J..._filesapmv.zip

Effects

Ground Shake
Here is a shotput (heavy ball) hitting the ground.

I feel it lacks power so I make the ground shake a bit, then it will look like this

All I did was move the ground when the ball hit it. Here is the .piv files http://www.pivothost.org/upload/v2/J..._filesapmv.zip

Flash
Here is an animation without the flash effect.

Again I feel it lacks power so I give it a flash effect, then it looks like this

I made a stick with a very large size so it covers the screen, I click the back button, forcing it onto the backmost layer. Decide on how intense you want the flash to be, then you change the colour accordingly, complete negative colour being biggest, slight change being smallest. You can also change the colour of all your other sticks on the screen to make it seem more powerful. Here is the .piv files http://www.pivothost.org/upload/v2/J..._filesapmv.zip

Movements

Run

That's what a run cycle should look like.
(.piv file here http://www.pivothost.org/upload/v2/J..._filesapmv.zip)

Normal Punch

That's what a good punch looks like.
(.piv file here http://www.pivothost.org/upload/v2/J..._filesapmv.zip)

Uppercut

That's what a good uppercut looks like.
(.piv file here http://www.pivothost.org/upload/v2/J..._filesapmv.zip)

Thrust kick

That's what a good thrust kick looks like.
(.piv file here http://www.pivothost.org/upload/v2/J..._filesapmv.zip)

Spin kick

That's what a good spin kick looks like.
(.piv file here http://www.pivothost.org/upload/v2/J..._filesapmv.zip)

I know I didn't explain the stuff really well, but if you download the .piv files
http://www.pivothost.org/upload/v2/J..._filesapmv.zip
Then you can examine the frames and learn how to do the various moves.
Trust me, that's the easiest way to learn stuff in pivot.
I hope you liked the tutorial. Jam0864
PS More stuff coming soon.
Re: Jam0864's Pivot Tutorial
Is it just me or did you take all those animations from that Ultiamte Tutorial? It sure looks like you did.

Yeh I took the uppercut and spin kick from the ultimate pivot tutorial and re-animated them. But the rest is mine (i think. I could've learnt it a while back and put it in a tutorial not relizing it was from the ultimate pivot tutorial. lol)
Re: Jam0864's Pivot Tutorial
That, is a pretty sweet idea...
ill have to look into that when i have a while to waste and arent about to fall asleep

(i win )
Re: Jam0864's Pivot Tutorial (updated x2)

Tutorial has been updated, their is now an effects section and since people don't know how to save a gif to optimize framerate and file size, their is now a section on that too. If you read this tutorial and you think it's bad, can you leave a comment so I can improve it. Or if on the other hand it helped you can you let me know on what helped the most. etc
