I've been trying to make by Toribash character (Laxchris) walk.. I have 1 attempt for the others failed. I'll through in some suicides too!

alright first off, set gravity to sambo gravity ( thats /set gravity 0 0 -30 )
you wont fly around so easily anymore if you do.

A good way to start a walking replay is leaning forward before you take your first step. Watch out not to lean back after the first few steps again or else you will fall on your ass. Also, make sure you dont use more force in your legs than needed. Sometimes putting stuff on hold or relax can help not falling over. Last tip i have is to use ctrl+p at crucial points, always helped me a lot
